Split Rock Winona Wildfire

DOB 06/19/02

(SS Handel x Charbeneau's Clementine)

$1,500

Winona is a beautiful female from rock solid North American stock. She weighed 40 pounds at birth and was the most active cria born to date at Split Rock Ranch! Her dam consistently produces winners - Winona's half brother was 7th in the Nation, and her sire is a Grand Champion and Regional Champion.

Photos on top left and right are recent photos of Winona after shearing. Photo above middle is Winona as a weanling. She has loads of long silky black fiber and curly locks on her legs and face, just like her sire.

Winona has lustrous silky black fiber, a strong level topline, good bone, capacity and lots of style and presence.  To date Winona has consistently produced show quality offspring with correct conformation, good bone and non-stop style and presence. We consider her our best producer here at Split Rock Ranch. She has that solid North American background that produces quality crias.

Winona was bred to a half Peruvian charcoal gray male (Stage Stop Mesquite) and delivered a stunning gray and white female cria in July 2005. Photos of Mesquite and Dazzle are at the bottom of this page. At the 2006 Rocky Mountain Regionals, Dazzle placed first in her class of yearling medium wool females and went on to take Grand Champion!

We bred Winona to our ALSA Halter Champion Tempis Fugit and on June 16, 2007 she gave birth to a beautiful charcoal gray male cria who weighed in at a whopping 30 pounds.

Winona gave birth in September 2008 to a male cria sired by Icebreaker (Argentine Don Zunca x MGF Ice Folly) This is an amazing cria - he has so much style and presence - he has that "look at ME" attitude.

Winona's latest cria is another home run. Split Rock Midnight Phoenix was sired by our multiple Grand Champion, Midnight's Kemui Yama. He is show quality and has gorgeous jet black fiber.

We exposed Winona to Midnight's Kemui Yama in October 2014. We will be field testing her in May to see if she is pregnant. Their first cria together was a knockout show quality male so we have high hopes for another gorgeous cria from this breeding. Winona has been our best producer and this will be the last time we breed her.

Photos of the crias and their sires are posted at the bottom of this page.
